A must-see in this beautiful city known as the capital of vallenato music. For this reason the park selected eight of the most important characters of the genre for this tribute. The masters Daniel Araujo and Misael Martínez were in charge of bringing this project to life. In each of the coins you can learn relevant biographical details of each musician, as well as a small piece of the most famous songs.

Alfonso López Square Valledupar

Named in honor of the former president Alfonso López Pumarejo, since his mother was a native of there. The square has beautiful mango trees and a diversity of flora. It was the first stage of the first Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata and it is there where the stage called Francisco El Hombre is located for the same purpose. At night it has excellent lighting that perfectly accompanies an unsuspecting and pleasant walk.

Beto Murgas House - Accordion Museum

In this museum, whether you are passionate about vallenato or not, you will find the most complete sample of the different accordions, where its process and evolution through time is evidenced. Beto Murgas is a collector and lecturer of this instrument, thanks to his extensive experience he manages to fill all our senses with history in each tour. There are only two tours per day, with a duration of 45 minutes each. Groups are welcome, with previous reservation.

Its full name is Parque de la Leyenda Vallenata "Consuelo Araújo Noguera". Its construction began in January 2000. It occupies an area of 23 hectares and has a capacity for 40,000 spectators. Since 2004 it has been the official venue for the Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata. However, it has also hosted different tourist fairs, musical and cultural events. Today it is in charge of the mayor's office of the city, who plans to adapt new recreational spaces, suitable for the enjoyment of its people with the company of their friends and family.

Dazzling scenery to take medicinal and curative baths in the Guatapurí River, this is the Balneario Hurtado. Surrounded by unparalleled fauna and flora, which you can enjoy by taking a walk in the surrounding area. It has chairs and tables on a small boardwalk to enjoy the popular gastronomic delicacies offered at very affordable prices. As a special inhabitant is the Statue of the Mermaid, owner of the legend of Rosario Arciniegas, a spoiled girl who became a fish by not heeding the warnings of his parents.

It is there where the image of the holy Ecce Homo is found, carved in wood to which miraculous benefits are attributed. Every Holy Monday, a religious event is held in honor of its patron saint, which is internationally known. The church has been remodeled three times, and was even moved from its original location. This act was recorded in the beautiful murals that adorn the Council and the Mayor's Office.

Questions frequent for Valledupar

Valledupar is the capital of Cesar, in the northeast of the country. Surrounded by the Cesar and Guatapurí rivers, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía del Perijá. At 898.91 kilometers from the capital of the country.

Grammatically, it should be Valduparense, but in order to give more musicality and comfort to the natives of the city, it was established that it was Vallenatos.

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is 62.9 kilometers away, so the trip by bus or cab can take up to 19 hours and 45 minutes.

The city of Valledupar is also known as the World Capital of Vallenato or the City of the Holy Kings.

Thanks to its abundant fauna, Valledupar is rich in animal protein, therefore the city has several dishes whose protagonist is this ingredient. Among them are: chicken, goat or fish stew.

It is traditionally held between the months of April and May. However, in 2021, due to pandemic issues, it will be held during the month of October.

The temperature is not constant, so it is generally between 22 and 37 degrees Celsius most of the year. It tends to drop to a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius and reaches a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius.

This magnificent work was created by the master Gabriel Beltrán, who chose a mixture of iron and phosphor bronze to give shape to this majestic accordion. It is located on Hurtado Avenue in the city. It is 10 meters long, 4.5 meters wide and 6 meters high.
